Founded in 1974 by Jack and Kaye McCarthy, the business began with a single truck in Bordertown. Over the decades, we have grown into a trusted transport operator with a versatile fleet and depots in Bordertown, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Our family-owned approach continues to guide every delivery, combining efficiency with personal service.
Our team
Our team of 15 staff are the backbone of McCarthy Transport. Many drivers have over 20 years’ experience, and several recently retired after more than 25 years with the company. This depth of experience ensures every client deals with skilled, professional operators who understand the challenges of freight logistics. Our family ownership guarantees that every delivery is handled with care, reliability, and a personal touch.

We solve complex freight challenges
McCarthy Transport is experienced in handling urgent and complex freight.
For example, we regularly manage export orders where empty containers must be collected from Adelaide or Melbourne, delivered to regional sites for same-day loading, and returned to the wharfs overnight or early the next morning.
We also handle mixed and oversized loads that require careful planning and multiple trailer types. Daily freight for clients can change at short notice, and we consolidate loads whenever possible to avoid delays or unnecessary fees.
